The Opaline Gourami is a striking colour variant of the three-spot gourami, prized for its beautiful blue-silver body and intricate marbled patterns. These calm and graceful fish are perfect for community tanks, getting along well with most other peaceful species.
Opaline Gouramis thrive in well-planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming space. As labyrinth fish, they can breathe surface air, so ensure they have easy access to the top of the tank. While they are generally peaceful, males may become slightly territorial, particularly during breeding, so providing enough space and visual barriers will help keep harmony.
Growing to around 15cm, they prefer water temperatures between 22-28°C and clean, stable water conditions. They are omnivorous and enjoy a varied diet of flakes, pellets, and the occasional frozen or live foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp. With proper care, these stunning fish can live for 4-6 years, bringing both beauty and personality to your aquarium.
